This is completely bizzare.
It’s completely unacceptable, in my opinion. A terminally ill woman is going on this show and deciding who gets her kidney. No joke.
The former director of TV station BNN, Bart de Graaff, died from kidney failure aged 35 after spending years on a transplant waiting list.
“The chance for a kidney for the contestants is 33%,” said the station’s current chairman, Laurens Drillich. “This is much higher than that for people on a waiting list.”
“We think that is disastrous, so we are acting in a shocking way to bring attention to this problem.”
Interesting point - but the lists exist for a reason. And the people who don’t “win” … well, they die. It’s so unethical on so many levels.

This sort of thing only happens in Alberta…
…Weird.
Recently, Mike Lake, a Canadian member of parliament from Edmonton, Alberta, agreed to introduce a petition that called for Bigfoot to be protected under the Canadian version of the endangered species act.
Lake presented to the House of Commons a petition that stated, “The debate over (Bigfoot’s) existence is moot in the circumstance of their tenuous hold on merely existing. Therefore, the petitioners request the House of Commons to establish immediate, comprehensive legislation to affect immediate protection of Bigfoot.”
People are fighting to have things that may not exist protected under the endangered species act but they’re not showing more concern for animals that we’re already certain are in fact leaving our planet forever. …So messed up.
Via dreadful.

Best. Idea. Ever.
All we need now are for the regulations of the US crash testings to be lowered and we can all run on air powered cars! It also doesn’t run that fast, but honestly - if the amount of people that drove within areas that are about 50 - 60 km/hr had one of these it would make a huge difference in the amount of emissions.
Not to mention there is no problem is traveling slower I know no one wants to do that, but it is an option. So is driving more carfully and putting more restritctions on who drives so that the crash testings don’t have to be so hardcore. Less speed and more mature and carful drivers would decrease the amount of accidents, for sure.

Dinos likely didn’t really have feathers…
The theory that dinosaurs gave rise to birds has been dealt a blow by palaeontologists who have examined critical evidence from a Chinese fossil.
The discoverers of the turkey-sized dinosaur Sinosauropteryx say it would have had primitive feathers, supporting the bird-from-dinosaurs theory.
But the latest research says these ‘proto-feathers’ are really frilly structures on the creature’s back.
The meat-eating dinosaur was covered in these fibers that looked like they could have been primitive feathers. These feathers were not said to be used of flight but were there only for aesthetic purposes.
Under a high powered microscope it turns out the feathers were actually the remains of a frill of a collagen fiber that would have ran down the dinos back. THis is the same sort of fiber that is found on the back of common day reptiles.
However this small set back doesn’t discredit the amount of other discoveries that could link dinosaurs to birds. The archaeopteryx (seen in the picture at the top of this post) is known as the very first bird, and most definitely evolved from dinosaurs… it fills in a huge gap in the fossil record, but still leaves a lot of space for debate.
The theory that dinosaurs evolved into birds mostly stands on the shoulders of the idea that smaller dinosaurs gained their evolutionary advantage by growing feathers to keep warm and to fly to high levels for safety.

Look, I’m blonde. Yeah, I don’t really like it either. But I go blonde every summer - and hate it every summer. One year I’ll learn, I swear. Expect it to be back to black within 2 months.
“We” had a yard sale today. My grandma was up at 6 am to set up, and my parents were up by 7 to help… It started at 8. I was awake around 6:30… gah. It was “town wide” yard sale day so there were a few more on the block, so we got quite a few people. But honestly, the effor that is put into having a yard sale is definitely not worth the money you end up making.
However, I was extremely happy because Helene came over and she is by far one of my favorite people in the world. So we hate no salt peanut butter, hung out talking, sat in a tent trailer and watched a wickedly weird/awesome movie called The Science Of Sleep. Tres beans. As we speak Helene is at a concertish thing right now, that I probably should have gone to. Instead I ended up watching The Queen with my family … but really I was too tired to go out (and still am… bed soon.)
The Queen was a pretty horrible movie, but the guy that played Tony Blaire did a really good job. As for what’s coming up with me… my brother is coming down on Monday until Tuesday, I think… or maybe just Monday - either way.. yay! I’m heading back to Mississauga on Wednesday… I have to meet up with a teacher that I’m TAing for next semester so that I can work out the schedual.
Then… camping! woo! <3 And the beginning of June! June used to be my favorite month because school ended (high school) and my birthday is in there somewhere - but now I like August because school starts and its deathly hot. Mmm hot.
