- Post-war suburban development of Toronto; specifically in regards to Toronto’s urban planning and environmental justice in priority neighbourhoods.
- Environmental urban development and politics in Shanghai and China’s ghost cities
Educational Studies
- Using a wide variety of methodology to evaluate the effectiveness of inexperienced universities graduates teaching English as a Second Language overseas

Personal Life
Hopes and Dreams
When Katie was in grade 8 she developed 3 goals in life for herself:
- See the Terracotta Army in Xi’an, China
- Ride an elephant in India
- Get a PhD
While the things we decide in grade 8 aren’t always the best life decisions she has decided to fulfill her inner-child’s dreams and plans to do all 3 of these goals within her lifetime. Katie also hopes to teach English in Korea at some point between all the schooling and elephant rides.
Blogs
Katie writes at the following places:
Canadian Atheist – a group blog of young Canadian atheist activists where she resides as the “token-Christian”
White Girl in Korea – the blog where, once she gets to Korea, Katie will recount all her Korean stories
Liberal-Debutante – Katie’s old personal blog that may no longer reflect her views, writing style or personality (she may have matured a bit).
