Well, I’ve had many a job this summer… factories, kitchen stores and day camps… but now… NOW I have finally got one that is worth waking up for. In day camps you know you have to face snotty nosed children and bitching parents. Not to mention the anti-atheist sentiments. At kitchen stores you have to pretend to care what kind of can opener people want, or help them pick the right strainer to match the apron that Aunt Suzie bought them at Christmas. At factories you use no skills or intelligence, you do repetitive work in an unaesthetic environment with people who don’t know Bush from Clinton or Pi from Beta… or what those two words mean.

I have landed a job where I can talk to people. Use my knowledge of electrical gadgets. And most importantly… walk to work instead of having to drive or take 8 different kinds of public transit. Future Shop my friends, Future Shop. And the best part is, in my interview I told them all about my work with secular groups, so my atheism isn’t going to get me fired from this one kids.

I’m working full time, which is great. Im doing training right now at the Kitchener location. It’s slightly inconvenient but come August 22nd we’ll be opening up the store here in Guelph, which is very close to my place. My supervisors/managers are totally amazing, I couldn’t have asked for better people. I sell computers, cell phones and cameras. Best of all, come September I’ll STILL be working full time AND doing a full time semester at school. I don’t need to choose, which is super important for me. At this rate, I’ll hopefully be moved out of my moms house by next summer with lots of cash-o-la in the bank-a-roo.

I think most people are suggest I get a car rather than move into my own place, but given the option of a car or walking around naked while listening to Britney Spears at the top of my lungs and leaving dishes all over the place without having to worry about other people and eating cross legged on the floor without getting yelled at…. I pick the second choice.

I was also just appointed the new multimedia director at CFI! Woo! Executive position!! So that’s pretty exciting as well. Anyway, if you’re in Guelph, stop by future shop and buy something to help up my commission!!
