Funny Shiznits

Dear loyal readers, forgive Katie for mentioning “2 Hot Girls in the Shower.” (They’re not that hot btw, plus, no boobage is visible). She is still sick with flu-like symptoms and clearly her usual discerning sense of taste is not all there. If Katie were not sick, I’m sure she would suggest you go watch the Midwest Teen Sex Show. First off, as the name suggests the show is about sex, but it’s not porn. It’s educational! (Well, actually, some uptight scumf*cks might consider it to be porn, but these people are crazies). The Midwest Teen Sex Show, is made somewhere in the mid-west of the good ol’ US of A and it’s sex ed that is fun. And funny. And informative! If only sex ed were taught in school the way they did it on the Midwest Teen Sex Show…I’d actually remember something from those classes. All the sex ed I did learn was either from the awesome Loveline radio show, surfing the internet, or *gasp* my parents. My parents were smart, they gave me good books on sex. The first one I got and arguably the best would have to be the Where did I come from? book. They later gave me others, but Where did I come from? was the best. It describes orgasms sooooo cutely! It says they are satisfying like a BIG sneeze. To a degree that’s true, but the best way to know what an orgasm is is to have one. Actually, don’t have one, have MANY for orgasm are just awesome.

Anyway, for funny stuff, check out the Midwest Teen Sex Show. At the moment, I know I have good taste in funny things. Heck, I know I have good taste in general. Yep, in music for example, I’m listening to the soundtrack from The Fiddler on the Roof as I type this.

On another note, this is my first post on Katie’s wonderful blog. I think it’s a decent post, no? If you think so, say so in the comments. If you don’t, shut up, you’re wrong.

I look forward to blogging a helluva lot more here.

As promised…

I spent this morning looking for things to write about. My mind is overflowing with ideas and concepts that I could be typing out and posting here…however…I’ve hit a wall. And that wall is the “why?” wall. Sure, I could type about how my feminism has gone down the drain, but I still find videos like this touching. I could type about the conference in November and how interesting the speakers will be but how little impact on the “big picture” the whole thing will be. Or even about something environmental or religious. I could upload some of my photography or write about the past two movies I watched. (1408 – horrible and Factory Girl – stunning.) But why? What I’d really like to do is just go for a walk, go to the mall, call some family, visit some family, see friends and read a book. I’m having a very hard time writing on this blog …more

so with each passing day. I’m sad that I’m missing thanksgiving on Sunday, I won’t get to see my family. And when ever I look at the pictures on my wall I’m sad that I’ve lost touch with so many friends back in Mississauga and that I’ve only see one of my baby cousins once. (Happy Birthday to him, by the way!)

I think I’m coming to the end of my blogging days.

The Liberal Debutantes have asked me to provide some links for you during Katie’s absence, so Samie doesn’t have to do ALL of the blog maintenance work. So here goes:

Creative Bits features some creative business cards. Some are really clever, but others would probably repel more potential clients than they’d attract. This one is my favorite:

***

Next link: YesbutNobutYes features lacy underwear for men.

Finally, here’s a link to a story that’s interesting, but macabre. Actually, I’m just reprinting the whole deal here, so there’s no need to click this link:

Texas State University had to scrap plans to build a “body farm” because of concerns that the decomposing bodies would attract buzzards that would in turn pose a threat to aviators, according to the Associated Press.

What’s a body farm, you ask? “The farms are used by scientists who bury cadavers to study human decomposition to help police better determine the time and manner of death at crime scenes,” AP says.

The Austin American-Statesman says local residents were concerned that the cadavers would attract coyotes, in addition to the buzzards, and hurt their property values.

Monday Love: Midterm writing machine

Okie dok. I worte my midterm and did pretty well. That’s the last one for the year, yo. 2 exams, 1 term paper and 1 in class paper and I am les fini university for a year.

Now, for some monday lovin’ linkage.

I think, A bird in a bottle, is the most underrated blog on the internet. …A recent post on an America’s Next Top Model is something at least my mom and my sister shoud check out. Maybe then when they ignore my radio show to watch that dumb television show they’ll at least start watching it critically.

On the music front Gordo lets us all know that the Grandmaster is being added to les rock and roll hall of fame. …Although its not the first time the hall has seen hiphop – its pretty wicked. I vote for A Tribe Called Quest and Beastie Boys to be added next, eh!?

Speaking of eh – hows about some good ‘ol les hockey news from Count me Blue, eh? The NHL is doing its part to raise money for breast cancer. I think its absolutely fantastic. Massive props to the NHL for that. Seriously, eh.

Okay, no more ehs.

One thing I never understood as a kid, was why we couldn’t make our car run on all the built up hot air and energy that was building up in the sun… Well, its not quite making the car run, but ecogeek has a pretty awesome post up about getting energy while your car sits out.. Get one if you have a car, yo. Unless you live in Winnipeg.

And my last couple links are on identity. It was interesting to read Sage’s post about getting her eyebrow done. Usually the story goes the other way – someone doesn’t get a teaching job b ecause they have a facial peircing, but this time it was the teacher who got treated weird while going to get it done. Don’t worry Sage, I won’t treat you differently because you’re a teacher. I was better friends with my teachers in highschool than I was with people my own age.

Her post came from thinking girl’s post on identity. I want to answer the questions too. She did a pretty fab job at answering them – mine will likely be “uuuh, eh?”

Anyway, that’s it for now… I am going to start my term paper, and then go do a play list. I’ll be on at 9 pm tonight! Woo. Listen and love.

I’ve been posting a lot less…

And I have one really fantastic reason as to why and a few pretty pathetic ones. The good reason is that next week is Fun Drive at the station. It’s an entire week devoted to all us DJs saying “send up money, please!” and it takes a TON of preparation. I have to do 18 hours of programming on the 16th, so I’ve been busting my butt to try and find people to fill slots and trying to decide how I’m going to raise a ton of money in about 3 or 4 days.

The pathetic reasons… My facebook wall just got loaded with messages from people who I actually want to talk to, not just send a wimpy “hey, I’m good” facebook message back. So I’ve been calling and e-mailing them. Also… I’ve got the Sims up and running on my computer again. I have about 3 families that I’m pretty addicted to playing right now… and that gets pretty time consuming. I played today for at least 7 hours. So pathetic, I’m aware.

Yesterday I did get an essay done about Chinatown. I think I’ll edit it a little bit and post it, because I got pretty pissed off while writing it. Tomorrow I *plan* on writing a post about my experience with a couple girls who have eating disorders… The *plan* is to do that at work tomorrow since Kathleen has planned the show yet again for Women on Air, but somethings the plan just doesn’t work out – but I’ll try.

Thursday I’m pretty much open… but I want to attempt to write a paper for my Geography of Canada class. It isn’t due for about 2 or 3 more weeks, but I’ll be booked solid next week, so it’ll be nice to be able to chill the following week and not worry about papers and such.

So to make up for my lack of posting I will direct you toward really REALLY good reads – amidst all my planning, gaming and sleeping I read these posts. Wooo.

 A post on porno!

A post on gender and stereotyping!

A post on male feminists!

A post on crazy christians!

Communist Mario!? merci to salt.

A lot of these topics I’d really like to weigh in on, so hopefully I’ll be able to do that very soon… I obviously have strong opinions on all the opinion pieces that I linked to – it’s just a matter of staying awake long enough to type them all out.

on that note…i tip my hat and bid thee farewell for the evening.
