My dearest Allen is away in California. So this post is mostly for his amusement. … He likes food blogs, so there is a lot about food, and a lot about my life, so that he knows some of the things I’ve been doing. Here goes….

This is my first meal without you, Allen (well..the first one i actually cooked…) I took snow peas, green peppers, zucchini, cauliflower and green peppers and threw them into a pan to steam them. ( I didn’t find the steamer until later) …I also boiled some noodles. (click on all the pictures to see full sizes..)

I was going to put some beans in… but they were a little… expired….

While I was doing this…. Kushi’s water broke (make large and look at her bum!)

Despite a kitten birth catastrophe, my dinner ended up cooked and delicious. I put some italian salad dressing on top to give it a kick! and mmmmm it was goooood.

For dessert Fe Lee Pe had bought 2lbs of blueberries for $$4!!!! Holy moly!!! So me and the german enjoyed.

Also, John and I got into our first real fight so I got flowers. SO PRETTY! <3

That weekend I went home to Guelph. Where I did some productive things like fix my shoes.

One night I was very hungry and took advantage of being at my moms house, so i use all her food. I used pears, blue cheese, walnuts, cucumbers, lettuce and raspberry dressing to make the most delicious salad EVER. Soooo good. I love cheese. We should use it more often…. or just eat it with like a fork.

Then I had a bubble bath because my parents have this amazing bubble tub that makes it look like the movies… so cool

And this is my new work equipment for the radio show!! My desk is a fucking disaster, I know. But I love that stuff. I can’t wait to start recording like everything. So awesome.

SCHOOL STARTS SOOOOON!!! AAAAAAAAAAAH!

ALLEN! COME HOME TO ME!

Messy!

Written by Katie Kish in Friend things

Some things, people just shouldn’t do:

  • date their boss, especially if he’s weird… the quarkiness might be adorable at first, but seriously - it will totally become annoying and then you’re left dating… you’re weird boss.
  • plan to elope - it totally defeats the purpose
  • hang out with work people who like drama: all they do is gossip and hate you for no apparent reason and then spread horrible things about you around the office. i hate women. i could never be a lesbian.
  • let the boy you’re seeing meet your extended family in the first month of dating: the more i think about doing this, the worse of an idea it becomes.
  • dismiss other people’s pain and belittle it by saying you’ve had a “harder” life. i hate that.
  • kill a spider by jabbing a pencil into the middle of it. it seems like a good idea at first, but then you see it twitch, have a mess on your desk and are out a pencil
  • live in a basement, and don’t do your laundry -  so many centipedes!
  • tell the lesbian in the office that has a crush on you that she looks “really great today” … super duper trooper bad idea
  • get a surface piercing right below your eye. …it hurts, it bleeds, it makes it hard to smile and you can always see it out of the corner of your eye. no matter how awesome it looks, it’s almost not worth the pain and annoyance.

i need something real to write about. my brain is going to sleep.

Why I Love Mark:

Written by Katie Kish in Friend things

markus-and-kt.jpg
My boy.

  • He plays mario really well and opens up that secret for me to get unlimited lives
  • He would punch boys in the face for me.
  • It was hilarious to watch him interact with Alon when they met
  • His “i don’t care” attitude is very complimentary to mine
  • We co-founded the “I Hate Everyone” group
  • Sometimes he has a bald head that is sexy.
  • When I broke the key to his house in his door and couldn’t feed his cat while he was on vacation he didn’t kill me.
  • He finished off a bottle of moonshine and woke up the next morning…
  • After shaking on both Christmas and Birthdays - I’ve never had to worry about buying him a present.
  • He is my only male friend that doesn’t incessantly stare at my boobs, and if he does, it’s because there is something on them and he thinks it’s funny. Or he’s trying to hide things in them.
  • He is by far my easiest friend to please. “What do you wanna do tonight?” “Nothing.” “Sweet.” *both remain lazed out on the couch*
  • We had movie nights… where we alternately picked the movie.
  • He put up with my “finger dinosaur” through far too many jurassic parks.
  • Never in my life have I met someone who reads less than he does, but still comes off as well read.
  • Walking. Dictionary.
  • When I get a house, he’ll fix everything that breaks.
  • He can cook. Mmm. Mark food.
  •  he listens to good… or at least decent … music
  • I never would have discovered Chocolate mint tea from tim hortons if not for him
  • He has a strong affliction for Risk
  • Even if I move to India for 12 years and don’t keep in contact with anyone, when I come back he’d still love me.
  • He refuses to appease me.
  • His facial hair isn’t lame.
  • Through all of my horrible hair phases he never once cracked and told me any of it looked okay.
  • we probably spent more than 80 hours together just sitting on a couch eating chocolate and watching that 70’s show.
  • his watch is pretty neat
  • he is a geek…
  • Our conversations can consist of one word answers and he understands everything I am trying to convey - and vice versa
  • If there was one person in the world who i would want to take the world over with - it would be him. because we wouldn’t care enough to kill the other person in the end of it all.
  • He watched good tv
  • He still talks to me, even after I admit that I have no idea what “American Gladiators” is…
  • He has a super nintendo, and he let me have it for the better part of a year
  • He was in the audio visual club in high school - yet never got beat up…
  • Definitely a geek… but like a cool geek.

This was compiled after my dearest best friend told me that I don’t talk about him enough on my “e-diary”… I love you Markus.

2008

new-years-eve.jpg

Me and a couple of my ladies on New Years Eve (click to expand)

First meal: McDonalds Big Mac

First drink: 2 shots of tequila

First sleep: In bed with one of my favorite people in the world

First punch: Received from my mother

First phone call: The love of my life. Ashley Robinson.

First text message: The ever amazing Scott Leduce

First crisis: I lost my iPod

First crisis resolution: iPod is found in Liza’s car

First book read: The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

First purchase: 3 shirts at H&M while waiting for the bus in Toronto

…I love new years, it just becomes a whole new list of firsts! And I love H&M!

Anyway, so far this year is pretty good. I started last year knowing that it wasn’t going to be a very good year - and it wasn’t. Within the first month I had gotten alcohol poisoning, nearly failed 2 classes and broke it off with a really great guy… Despite living in BC, it just didn’t have a good feel to it. But this year seems a little different. Hopefully it actually is.

Classes start in a week! Exciting. I’ll actually have intelligent things to write about because my head will be working a little bit harder than it had been for the past few months. …I decided that the last few months were a HUGE waste of time - I did learn some valuable lessons, get screwed over a TON, met some amazing people and learned a lot about myself - but… they are months I probably would have liked not to have been part of my life.

The past week has been really great. Work has been going just as well as I expected, if not better. I do go to bed at around 10 pm every night… but I guess there is nothing horribly wrong with that except that my social life has been completely narrowed down to my work friends. That’s not a problem or anything, but I have other people around I want to hang out with. Today, however, I had the day off… And my dearest love The Lenster called me up to let me know she was coming over…

She also said she was bringing something to drop off…

Now, she just spent the past couple of weeks over in Europe… France, Brussels and Dublin to be exact, so I thought maybe she had brought me a croissant or something. Much to my surprise, she brought me something even more delicious…My dearest friend Cearuil Swords who I lived with in first year. (He was an exchange student…) We spend the afternoon talking, catching up and eating good foods. I have missed him dearly, and am glad he is here for a visit.

I was so happy to see him, and will be happy to spend more time with him this Thursday. I hope to spend more and more time with my eco-kids whom I have grown further and further from as the years have passed. However, I am in Guelph, and the majority of them have all moved in together in a house that is super close not only to school, but also to my work. So I plan on visiting often, and doing lots of fun things.

Other fantastic news is that Allen is back from California so I’ll be going to Toronto soooon to visit him! I have missed him very much.

I spent today trying to figure out how to work my new phone (its okay, you can be jealous of it…) only to find out that before I can really do anything i need to pick up a micro SD card, so that’s on the plate for tomorrow as I am working 9 - 5:30. Then I am getting new sheets for my new apartment… for which we will be closing the deal on tomorrow. SO excited. Things are coming up Katie Kish.

I do plan on getting onto a more regular schedule for posting since the summer is now over, and my life is going to have some order to it. As of right now I’m going to be working Monday and Tuesdays 9 - 5:30 have Wednesday and Thursdays off and working 9 - 6 Friday, 10 - 7 Saturday and 10 - 5:30 Sunday. That accompanied with 4 classes, 3 of which are distance ed will leave about an hour a day of free time which I’ll probably spend on the computer and thus getting at least one decent post a day in! Woo! My life is about to get hectic, but at least it’s a good hectic. All summer it’s been really super unstable schedule wise, but now everything should work out to be grand.

Love!
