Friday Random 10: I just rolled out of bed edition

by Katie Kish on Feb.02, 2007, under Blogs, Body Image, Capitalist Pigs, Current Affairs, Environment, Link Bombardment, Music, Randomosity

I love Fridays because they’re actually my Saturdays.  No work. No school. Just me. In bed, for way too long.

  1. Amy Seeley - 1995
  2. TV on the Radio - New Year’s Day
  3. Jack off Jill - Running On Empty
  4. Cursive - Art is Hard
  5. Sonic Youth - Drunken Butterfly
  6. The Go! Team - Bottle Rocket
  7. The pillows - I think I can
  8. Minus the Bear - Hooray
  9. RJD2 - Iced Lightening
  10. Sufjan - The tallest man, the broadest shoulders

Via the Blasphemy Challenge blog I found the counter challenge, the Praise the Lord Challenge. Just a few comments, first of all The Rational Response Squad that is mentioned on the Blasphemy blog a few times, is stupid. I say that as an atheist. One of their founders, Sapient, is a total door knob, I don’t mean that he’s stupid - because he’s not - he is simply irrational himself, and unapologetic for it. Anyway, I’m not getting into it more because Sapient and I have had enough one on one run ins to last me the rest of my life time. I will never understand atheists that can’t be tolerant of religious people. Most of the smartest people I know are religious, they simply choose to live their life differently than I do. No prob.

Roxanne (temp at pandagon) reminds me how much I hate Sarah Silverman. She’s just not funny. She’s irritating.

Treehugger is ripping into Valentine’s day already. I don’t expect that I’ll have a post ranting about how much I hate it. Mostly because I’ve learned to just… Not care. Sure, its a day to tear the money out of our hands and to remind all single people in North America that they’re single… but… whatever. Fact of the matter is - if I had a boyfriend… we’d be going somewhere, and I like flowers. There are bigger matters in the world that I can bitch about.

A couple things from Just Dreadful. 1. Body image in politics. Fuck off eh? (The political jerk heads, not the dreadful girl.) 2. Population Growth and Global Warming. Alright, here’s the thing. Everything is connected in this topic. So not only do we need to find a way to make developed countries lower their consumption we also have to find a way to decrease population growth in under-developed countries, as they need resources as well. Unless we want to see an increase in World Vision ads on TV we need to get contraception over there.

But Jenny is right - it’s not Africa and India that are pumping tons of pollution into our atmosphere. Family planning is important in India because it is *going* to be one of the top polluters soon… But that also has to do with sustainable energy. Anyway, family planning is important for a number of reasons - one of which is resource consumption and food but its hypocritical to wag our fingers at under developed countries while we live in our culture.

Jessica may not be a fan of tyra, but i love her, and this video makes me love her more.

Time for me to call my mom!

Thanks for the mention, Katie. Can you send me some of your discourses with Sapient? I’m interested in reading them. Go ahead and send me a link if you can. Thanks. Sapient is more than intolerant. I mean the guy admitted he wanted to put Christians (even his own mother!) in a mental institute. *SIGH* People.

    Always,

    Frank

Squashed, quite opposite actually. I’ve been in a horrible mood all week, so I’ve been trying to listen to happy music :D

Frank, The discourses with Sapient happened on the teen atheist message board that the rational response squad has… I don’t have the URL anymore, but you probably know what I’m talking about. If not, I’m sure I could find it if I really tried. I don’t go anymore because of Sapient. My mother is one of the reasons I think religious people can be so intelligent. She and my step dad (who is a minister, actually) are religious… and they are both in my “top 10 smartest people I’ve ever met in my life” list.
