New Adventure
by Samantha Drover on May.13, 2007, under Adventures, Friend things, Fun, Samie
My 3 close friends and I made a pact to have a new adventure at least once a week this summer. This means doing something we’ve never done before, or going somewhere we’ve never been.
My new adventure for this week would definitely be getting my first car!

Isn’t she a beauty? Her name’s Darcy. She’s a ‘94 Audi… And yes, Audi was definitely on Katie’s black list of car companies… but she needs to be recycled.
I don’t know how long I’ll keep it - I originally thought it would just be for the summer, to get back and forth to work. But we’ll see how much I fall in love with the independence.
So, many of my upcoming summer adventures will definitely be achieved in my baby. This upcoming week Im going to Whitby - not a very exciting place in Ontario, but I’ve never been before - therefore it counts.

Two things happen when a woman buys a car:
1) The car becomes female.
2) The car acquires a name.

Colour me jealous Samus. I want a car so bad.

Isn’t Darcy a male name?

Also, Gordo, if a woman is appointed CEO of the MTA, does it mean all subway trains will acquire real names?

Darcy is a unisex name, actually.

Gordo, stop being so sexist. Plenty of men name their cars and make them women!
Andy - Tyler Buckland is selling his Toyota Corolla for $500, it needs the breaks fixed and a little bit of body work, but Bobby Johnson said he would do all that for free. The guy who looked at Ty’s car said that it was only half driven. It would probably be perfectamundo for what you’re looking for.

Alon–
Yes, if a woman were appointed CEO of the MTA, all subway trains would acquire real names.
Katie–
You’re right. Plenty of men name their cars. Plenty of men are complete fembots.
Andy–
I would jump on that Corolla. It’s one of the few models of car that I would buy if it was 10+ years old, because Toyotas are the best engineered cars, and because you can always find used parts for them.

By the way, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with naming your car. It actually makes a lot more sense than naming a boat, since a car is a much bigger part of most people’s lives.

Only if your car is the sort that you keep in a garage or on a parking lot, rather than the sort that you keep at a railyard and hop on whenever it comes to the major street nearest to your home.
