Yeah…I’d totally marry him.
… I did it.
I bought my first thing off of iTunes. In one sense I hate that I just bought something off iTunes, on the other hand I’m glad I supported this artists. (But how much of the money ACTUALLY goes to the artist? I don’t know. Thats why I like buying CDs at concerts, you see the money go into the hands of the artists. Like when I saw Matthew Barber, I went up to buy the CD, and when I realized it was HIM that I was handing the money to it felt good that he was getting the money.)
Anyway, what did I buy? Greydon Square. Seriously. I love politically charged rappers, it’s just so hot. And he goes on about carbon dating in one of his songs, and a bunch of science junk. UGH. Awesome. And I’m going to see him in June. DOUBLE UGH. The only bad thing about him is that he’s a member of the Rational Response Squad. I love atheists and everything, and I love people who devote their life to reason - but… their site is so shoddy. And they’re all so unprofessional. And they’re some of the most inflammatory people I’ve ever spoken to. They draw in the immature angsty teenager group so their blogs and forum are just too annoying to read.
But Greydon is super talented, and I’m really excited to see him at The Amazing Meeting 6 in June. (And my sweetness in starlight) Eek! That’s going to be one good weekend. With any luck I’ll meet Teller too. I don’t care so much about Penn, but I really want to hug Teller because he’s SO cute. And if I do meet Penn, I’d like to remind him of the time that he was a witch on Sabrina… just so he rehumbles himself.

That’s disgusting. I’m ashamed of you.
Good luck putting that music you just “bought” on anything other than an iPod. Welcome to Apples proprietary DRM lock-in.
Secondly, Apple gets 3 times as much money as musicians from each sale. Apple takes a 35% cut from every song and every album sold, a huge amount considering how little they have to do. Record labels receive the other 65% of each sale. Of this, major label artists will end up with only 8 to 14 cents per song, depending on their contract.
Your comments make me wonder how much of our site you’ve actually seen. There is a ton of awesome information, and we have our fair share of rants and trolls as well. It’s called “free speech”.
I feel that your blanket characterization is unfair, but it always makes me laugh to see “freethinkers” talking abut how people should behave.
Watch out–the immature angsty teenagers will be attending TAM as well.
No, I’ve read your site quite a bit, and still do. I wasn’t telling anyone how to behave or not to behave - just simply what I find annoying. You’re very quick to become defensive - I wasn’t trying to silence your freedom of speech… geez.
“their site is so shoddy. And they’re all so unprofessional. And they’re some of the most inflammatory people I’ve ever spoken to. They draw in the immature angsty teenager group so their blogs and forum are just too annoying to read.”
This statement would seem to indicate that you don’t, but whatever. If I’m defensive, maybe it’s because you label us en masse without taking into consideration that we do have “professional” content (what is a professional atheist, anyway?) and we also have many members who are far from “immature angsty teenagers”.
Having read the RSS website a few times I have to agree with Katie on this one. One of the first things that stands out is a post called “Damn Right I’m Angry” and the apparent #1 post is “Christian Pownage 101″ I remember joining the forum and thinking “awesome, like me”. After being there for a few days I thought “not awesome, like me.” and joined the CFI forums instead where they really are more “professional” and less irritating.
Kelly, if you can’t distinguish professionally done pieces from screeds, maybe you shouldn’t be in the writing business. Some atheists are serious about spreading their views; others write articles entitled, “Still Don’t Think Theism is a Mental Disorder?”.
I have no clue what everyone’s talking about…
Anyways, about the post…thanks for letting me know about this guy. Most (i.e. “all”) of the rappers I enjoy the most are those with some from of belief in a god or higher power (like Common, Mos Def, Blackalicious, the Roots, Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco), so it is interesting to finally see this guy, Greydon Square.
I will definitely be checking him out. I’ve already heard a couple tracks off of his myspace and I’m enjoying it. Still can’t dethrone guys like Mos, Lupe, or Blackalicious on my list but it is some good quality hip-hop…although…so far, he seems to do a bit too much proselytizing for my tastes. Does he ever rap about anything other than atheism?
Even, if we supposed, the RRS site had fabulous content, the layout, design, and implementation is shoddy. It needs a makeover. I hate going to the site since it’s so messy and cluttered.
Wow, i wish i knew stuff like this posts. To address Brother Andy in his assessment about what you get per song you sell on itunes, to set the record straight apple only takes 2.99 from me, i get $7 per cd i sell on there so its not a bad deal. I REALLY appreciate this blog though, such an honor. Thanks a bunch
Greydon Square
Michael: “I have no clue what everyone’s talking about…”
I frikkin love that you said that. I also friggin love that you’re checkin’ him out! Woo!
Roy - I totally agree, i dont like the look at all. I went for a live chat the other day and nearly went blind looking at everything everwhere.
Greydon - *faints* … … … Okay, I’m good. Thanks for stopping by
I’m glad you got more than just a few cents from the tracks!
