I give up

Posted by: Katie Kish In: Rantage

I just wrote a fucking amazing post on marriage and some fucking yahoo thing popped up in the window when I hit submit instead of the posting page and now the post is gone. This stupid yahoo page keeps popping up instead of the URL that i request. I dont know wtf it is, or how the fuck it got on here, but I’m starting to get uber pissed. I’m out of this blog shit for a day or two before I throw my fucking computer out a window.

It was a DAMN GOOD post about marriage being the social corruption of today leading to stupid patriarchical divisions, and how the religious intollerance of the world is partly to blame. I even linked to about 8 differnet places, which I’ve already closed off because I thought the stupid thing would have stupid posted.

But, one was to this feministing post about marriage, which I basically agree totally with, and another was to Alon’s post…and I made a comment in there that basically sums up my opinion on that.

Since it’s 230 am and I’m still sort of on Ontario time (so its 530 am) I’m not going to bother redoing the post now. But basically - marriage is totally irrational. I don’t need an insitiutionalized peice of paper telling me who I love, and then having to get another peice of paper with more signatures on it if something goes wrong. ….Then some blabber about gender roles, some more blabber about how much of a waste of money big weddings and receptions are…and a little bit more blabber about how I’m just going to ‘live in sin’ with as many guys as possible, simply because it pisses off so many fundamentalists I know.

GRRR. This is the most frustrating week of my life. I hate yahoo right now, more than I hate walmart. and boy. do i hate walmart.

Infuriating, isn’t it? Well, both: the institution of marriage and verbophagic software. An inspired rant is never the same if you try to repeat it, ditto a really subtle bit of analysis.

And I speak as an old married broad. Joe and I got legal after we’d been together 19 years, because I needed medical insurance and that was the only way we could afford it, through his job. The idea gave me hives, but we had a private ceremony in a hole in the ground in a park near us, attended by the minister (a good and trusted friend) and her three dogs, them in matching kerchiefs for the occasion. Then we had a picnic with champagne. I took one vow: I won’t let this change anything. I hope I’ve kept it.

We didn’t tell anybody, even my mother, for years. Then it became a matter of admitting to the dirty compromise. We have three anniversaries every year, and that’s the one we both always seem to forget.

In short, as Mister Natural says: Don’t mean sheeeit. But we’ve had to work to keep that true, to keep the damage minimal.

Too bad you weren’t using the blogging software your brother developed. It autosaves your work every 30 seconds…

Blah blah blah.. What about Wal-mart? Low wages? Crappy merchandise? Now what is it?

What about Walmart? Well yes, all of those…regular complaints and all those things that big anti-walmart sites post about… the wages, the environmental damage, etc… but why did I say it specifically that time??

Because every single walmart I’ve ever gone to in my entire life has had shitty service, horrible lines, rude people working there and pushy customers. I hate walmarts because going to them is just a horribly unenjoyable experience. …The last one I was at, I got pushed by like 3 pepole while in line, ignored by my cashier who left in the middle of ringing my stuff through to go talk to another customer, and then had about 3 errors on what she had rung in. So I had to go stand in ANOTHER line to get shit straightened out.

I hate walmart.
