I really hate that feeling of having an essay looming over your head… I go to my room time and time again, and sit down at my computer thinking to myself "okay, *this time* i’m actually going to start writing it……….. right after I check my e-mail" Then there is always an e-mail that leads to something else, to something else… to something else, that I then have to tell one of my three roommates about which turns into a nutter fest of the four of us laughing for an hour.
Sooo I still haven’t started my essay. Bwa. I will. Eventually. I think I might go take a nap… then do it. Maybe. Until then, I just have a few things I want to say.
Alon posted a while ago about school bullying. I meant to link to it, but I forgot about it. So *now* I’m linking to it. I just want to make a comment, that I already made in one of Gordo’s comment threads, that school uniforms are …totally stupid. They don’t do anything.
There were schools in my area in Mississauga that had uniforms and honestly, they didn’t help lower any sort of discrimination or anything like that. The slutty girls still looked slutty… all they had to do was pile on the make up, roll um the skirt, throw on the slut boots and leave the top 4 buttons undone on the shirt. (Sam, you *know* I’m talking about ‘jizzlizz‘ on this one.)
The cool, sporty boys that everyone wanted to sleep with just bought their pants too big and made sure never to have their shirt tucked in. Throw a bandana into the mix and you have the thug guys (oh, and the huge ass diamond earrings.).
Then there were the kids that I liked! They’d just throw a leather vest, or a blue jean vest over top with studs and anti-religion, anti-establishment, anti-homophobia pins all over it and spike their hair up to the ceiling and color it blue. (Oh how I love punks. They warm my heart.)
Although they eliminate the hassel of finding appropriate clothing to wear to school that day… thats all they do. If you’re in highschool you *know* who the ‘losers’ are and you know who the ‘cool’ kids are. I’m very well aware even to this day that more than 1/2 of the people I hang out with… (and even date…) I wouldn’t have been caught dead talking to in highschool… because I was a bitch. You just *know*. Highschool is evil.
Next, this is …sort of a rant …sort of. I really like feministing. In fact, it is one of the first sites I check when I go online. I do, however, have a pretty big beef with it… (other than the fact that I still don’t have a date for mine and Jessica’s interview) and that is it’s complete and utter lack of feminist news. …And when it does put up feminist news, it usually pretty late on getting it up. I used to only read Feministing for feminist news… then I found out that they really don’t post about much news. Like abortion news, discrimination news… and so on. Even this weeks Weekly Feminist Reader didn’t have more than one thing that I hadn’t already heard about. (And some of it was incorrect… which alon corrected already) …I wish they’d do get more news up.
And finally… The Hour has a new site again. I like this one a lot better than how it was before. And you know what I love more than the hour all on its own? George’s musical taste. Fooor serious. Not to mention the news section on the site never dissapoints me. Okay…now I’m *really* going to go write my essay.
*edit*
Oh, I TOTALLY almost forgot this…. Ahhhh ha ha ha ha haha
This has grown so out of control it is routine for a person to start
a daily blog entry with a single word that details his or her mood. A
blog entry will start: “Current mood: ____” The level of shallowness
and emotional immaturity this represents is astonishing! In the grand
scheme of things, why would the world at large care?People
naturally want to make a mark in this world; they want to make a
difference, and many believe blogs will allow them to do this. However,
most blogs, especially by teenagers, serve as nothing more than public
diaries. (Of course, there is nothing inherently wrong with a personal
diary, as long as it is kept private.) Although certain professional
weblogs can make a positive difference within some elements of society,
teen blogging does not.Stop and consider. The biggest mark you will ever make is to build God’s character and be born into the God Family. Blogging will not help you achieve this.
Seriously you *have to have to have to* read it all. Not only is it a good way to procrastinate what ever it is you’re avoiding, but it is.. well, halarious.

I saw DJ Shadow on Thursday. It was probably the best show I’ve ever been to. After watching Shadow kill shit on his decks, I immediately went home to bang on my own tables in a semi-drunken stupor - I even managed to impress a few people who came over with us after the show. I was proud.
And I didn’t know you liked Shadow.

btw “After watching Shadow kill shit on his decks, I immediately went home to bang on my own tables in a semi-drunken stupor ” probably the funniest sentence ever written on this blog.
