I was going to do a rather lengthy post about the state of the environment in Iraq, but you know what - Seed and IPS have done fantastic jobs already so head over there and take a read… The seed article is especially good.
I bought my ticket to head back to Toronto on April 26th. I leave Victoria at 2 pm and arrive at Pearson at 11 pm. I will miss Victoria a lot, but I sure am excited to be going home to my mom. I miss her.
I’ll be in Guelph for at least 1/2 of the summer (until I go to Downtown Toronto to find myself a job) so if you’re in the area, e-mail me and we can hang out! I also plan on heading toward the even more Southern bit of Ontario - Windsor - to see family that a) I’ve never met b) I haven’t seen in a really long time. So I’m looking forward to that too. …Really, I thought being SO far away from my family and friends was going to be okay, but honestly - you don’t realize how much of a family person you are until you don’t have them.
For those of you who have been trying to listen to me online on the radio, the stream was down for a week or so - but it’s working again. It’s really shitty that the week that it was down was our fund raiser week - but we had no problem meeting our goal, thankfully. So you can listen this Saturday from 8 - 9, I’ll be on (it’s just one of those random slots I agreed to fill just for this week.) I’ll be playing all chart release indie rock/electronic schtuff. It’ll be really fantastic, I assure you of that. …Then I’ll be on again Monday 9 - 10:30 and the usual show Wednesday 5 -6. The Wednesday show will be pretty serious stuff, I have 3 women coming in to discuss their experiences with eating disorders.
The radio talk is reminding me that I want to write a ranty post about bloggers getting radio shows - it pertains to Blog Talk Radio - but I’ll get into that tomorrow. Also a post about the ever so famous trilobites, because they’re cute and the ants of the Palaeozoic era.
** up-fikkin-date!!!** Woo! Jurassic Croc surfaces in Oregon!
The remains of the crocodile, believed to be from the species Thalattosuchia and member of the Metriorhynchids group, now belong to the state.
An ancient sea-going crocodile has surfaced from the rocks of Crook County in eastern Oregon.
Its discovery by the North American Research Group, whose members were digging for Jurassic-age mollusks known as ammonites, is another confirmation that the Blue Mountains consist of rocks that traveled from somewhere in the Far East, says retired University of Oregon geologist William Orr, who was called in to examine the find for the state.
The remains – about 50 percent of a 6 to 8-foot reptile, including long, needlepoint teeth – were found imbedded in Jurassic rock on private property in the Snowshoe Formation of the Izee Terrane south of Dayville, Ore..
Coooool!!!
