I meant to follow the U-20 a lot closer than I did…but I got caught up with job searching, visiting people… etc.
Anyway, Argentina ended up winning 2 - 1 against Czech. I sort of knew Argentina was going to win, they’re a phenomenal team. Of course the games didn’t go without controversy. On Thursday a brawl broke out between Canadian police forces and the Chilean team. Canada was tagged with being racist, and some players ended up having to sit out of the game - none-the-less the team came in at third defeating Austria.
Canada sold a record number of tickets for the event and had a TV following of more than the world series. (I doubt that’s hard to beat…)
The absolute highlight of the games… was this quote that I just heard on CBC Sunday Night News (thats really just a link to CBC news… the best news around. love!)… Right so, my absolute highlight of the games:
“These records were not the only ones Canada broke. Canada was the first home team to never win a single game, in fact to not score a single goal.”
WOO!!! GO CANADA!!!
