Ahh, there it is - that wonderful piece of junk I was trying to erase from my mind. Now as far as the Commodore 64 goes, that’s a whole other story - what a magnificent machine! ![]()

Lovely bit of trivia … the irony is, the Vic-20 was one of the worst computers of the 80’s, lol. When the Vic-20 came out, Commodore was at the end of a long slide from the top to the bottom of the PC market. In the early days of personal computers (and this is REALLY early, like the 70’s) Commodore CBM machines, nicknamed PET, were the state of the art for integrated machines. There was a wide range of peripherals for them, and a robust architecture. As they moved through successive PET and then SuperPET models, the quality continued dropping. The Vic-20 represents the end a long process of dumbing down the Commodore computers from something really quite remarkable, to a product that actually wasn’t quite as robust as the video games Bill was talking about in the ad.
The saddest part is that i know all this first hand, cause I lived through it, lol … so thanks for the retro-reminder … that commercial probably came out when I was around 14, lol.

Even though the consensus seems to be that the Vic was a lousy computer, seeing Shatner tout them has made me want to run out and buy one.
